Ubuntu logoEarlier in june Charles Davis announced they were starting the summer with a document-cleaning-project, called the The Summer of Documentation. The goal of this little project was to motivate as many people as possible to help and assist in ordening and cleaning the Ubuntu documentation. Tux SoftwareFor the average Linux user, software can be a bitch to install if you can't find your software package in the normal repositories. Kevin Thompson thought of a solution for this, he started Tux Software with a couple of friends.

Tux Software is a new website (they just moved from Alpha to Beta stage) that provides you with a nice service of searching and installing popular and less-popular software. After adding their repositories and installing a small tool (Linux Software Installer), you can search the database for software that is supported for your Linux distribution. Next thing, you download the .deb package and install it. An other way of using their website is installing the LSI tool, and browse the website for your software. After finding the tool you want, you can click on the link: INSTALL NOW with L.S.I and the L.S.I takes over from there... Pretty smart system for the beginning user I'd say.
